We want campus and the city to feel safe and welcoming for everyone. Here’s advice and support to help you look after yourself, your friends and your belongings.
1. Stay safe on nights out

2. Alcohol and drug safety
If you choose to drink alcohol or use drugs, be aware of the risks and how to reduce harm. Find out more and get drug and harm reduction advice.
3. Travel safely
- Plan your route before you set off
- Avoid walking alone in unfamiliar areas at night
- Use licensed taxis or trusted transport options

4. Protect your belongings
- Never leave phones or laptops unattended, including in the Library and other campus buildings
- Keep your phone in your bag or pocket when not in use
- Make sure bags and pockets are securely closed
- Be aware of your surroundings when using your phone and always avoid using your phone near the edge of the pavement
- Enable tracking apps (for example, Find My iPhone or Find My Device)
- Make a note of your phone’s IMEI number (dial *#06#)
- Register your belongings on Immobilise
