Nursery Subsidy

The Subsidy is available to cover the difference between the Public Rate and Staff/Student Rate for the Echoes & Dryden nurseries, respectively.

For example:

Public rate is £67.00 – Staff/Student rate is £64.00 = £3.00 daily subsidy awarded

We invite student parents to apply for a nursery subsidy grant if you meet the following criteria:

• Your child has a confirmed place at Echoes Nursery/Dryden Street Nursery.
• You are not eligible for a childcare grant from Student Finance/the NHS.
• Both parents are working/studying so the childcare is essential.
• Your child is not eligible for the Early Education Funding Grant issued by Manchester City Council.
• You do not have any savings and are unable to meet the full fee required by the nursery due to a low household income.

Any subsidy awarded will be paid direct to the Nursery by us, with the remainder payable by you to the Nursery.

We may reduce or reject an application based on the following:

• Where a student’s income exceeds their expenditure.
• Where there is a high level of non-essential expenditure evidenced in bank statements (see the guidelines for what is classed as non-essential).
• If a student appears to have a high level of funds readily available in their bank statements to cover the amount that would be awarded by the subsidy.
