The following information applies to most students who have immigration permission in the UK. In all cases you should inform the Student Services Centre of any changes and ensure your MyManchester details are updated. You may also need to inform UKVI directly of any changes. For instance, if you move addresses or change your name. Please read the information below to see what you should do in each circumstance.
If you are not sure if any of the following applies to you because you hold a different type of visa then please contact us directly to check.
If you change address you must inform the University and UKVI. You must update your MyManchester page with your new address details and also update UKVI.
To update UKVI, you can update your address details directly through your UKVI account.
If you change any of your personal details you must inform the University and UKVI. You should email the Student Immigration Team and explain the change and attach scans of any relevant evidence so we can ensure your record is updated.
You can update your name, correct your date of birth, add an extra nationality or upload an updated photo of yourself through your UKVI account.
You must inform the University and UKVI if you change or renew your passport. You must email the Student Immigration Team explaining the change and provide a clear scan of your new passport.
You can directly update your UKVI account with your new passport details and add it as your new identifying document to enable you to log in to your account going forward.
If other circumstances change then you may be obligated to inform the University and/or UKVI. Such changes may include any criminal convictions or a change in relationship with your Student Dependants.
UKVI's Change of Circumstances form provides guidance on what changes you should inform them of. This is a paper form and should be completed and posted to UKVI. However, you should contact us first so that we can advise you about any potential implications for your current visa or any future applications.
