International Students undertaking a one-year taught masters degree are required to pay a non-refundable tuition fee deposit of £1,000 before an electronic Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) can be issued. A CAS is an essential document for students applying for a Student Route visa. This visa has replaced the Tier 4 (General) student visa.
Due to a number of cases of attempted fraud from specific countries, applicants domiciled in Bangladesh, Ghana and Pakistan are now required to pay a higher deposit of £6,000 before their CAS can be issued.
Any deposit payment is deducted from the total cost of your tuition fees.
It is possible to pay more than deposit value; up to a maximum of the total tuition fee due for the year. The total amount paid will be displayed when you register and will be deducted from the tuition fee due.
If your tuition fees will be fully funded by a third party sponsor you are exempt from paying a deposit - however, you must provide documentary evidence of the sponsorship. You do not have to pay the deposit if you have US student loan funding, or if you are attending an English language pre-sessional course at The University of Manchester.
Deposits are non-refundable except in cases where a Student visa has been refused. In such circumstances you must email your school to request a refund.
Paying tuition fees, either yourself or on behalf of someone else, is easy and straightforward. We encourage payment in advance of you arriving at the University at the start of your studies to avoid unnecessary delays or problems transferring funds - especially for overseas payers.
You can make a full or partial payment towards your tuition fees in advance of registration. This facility is available to any non-MBA applicant who has firmly accepted an Unconditional Offer for an academic course at the University (excluding pre-sessional English courses).
The quickest and easiest way to pay your deposit is online using a credit or debit card. You will receive an email asking you to complete IT Signup. Once you have done this, log into the early payments app in My Manchester below and follow the instructions.
