Tuition Fee Status and Assessment

Tuition fees are set at different levels for Home and International students. Before you begin your course we must establish your tuition fee status.

Eligibility criteria for Home fee status can be found on the UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) website.

Unfortunately we are unable to carry out fee assessments in advance of study applications being received.

The Tuition Fee Assessment Process

If we need further information or documents to determine your fee status then you will be informed in your acknowledgemet email, offer letter or contacted directly by a member of the Fee Assessment Team.  You will be asked to complete a tuition fee assessment form and provide copies of supporting documentation.

In many cases, we will be able to make this assessment without needing any additional information and your fee status will be confirmed if/when you receive an offer to study at the University.  In certain circumstance your fee status may also be reviewed during the application process which may result in your status changing after offer

If you have been asked to complete a fee assessmnet:

  1. Download and complete a tuition fee assessment form
  2. Return the completed form to along with scanned copies of any supporting documentation mentioned within the form
  3. Find out more about the types of documentation to support return visits to the UK/EU

It is important to return this information as soon as possible.

Impact of Brexit on Fee Status

The UK government confirmed on 23 June 2020 that EU, other EEA and Swiss nationals will no longer be eligible for home fees or Student Finance England support for courses starting in the academic year 2021/22.  EU, EEA and Swiss nationals commencing their studies in the 2021/22 academic year will therefore be charged the international rate of fee unless you fall into certain categories.  Please see our Impact of Brexit on Fee Status page for further details including specific information for:

  • EU, EEA and Swiss nationals benefiting from Citizens’ Rights under the EU Withdrawal Agreement, the EEA EFTA Separation Agreement, or the Swiss Citizens’ Rights Agreement
  • Irish Nationals living in the UK or Ireland
  • British Citizens returning to the UK from the EU/EEA/Switzerland
  • Children of Turkish Workers

Change of Immigration Status

If you have a time restricted immigration permission for your stay in the UK and are successful with your application, we will regularly check for any updates on your immigration status during your studies. This information will be confirmed with the Home Office.

If at any point during the application process or after you start your studies, we are informed that your immigration status has changed, such that you are no longer permitted to study at the University, you must leave your studies immediately; your ability to resume your course will be dependent on your immigration status and the time elapsed during any break in study. The University’s tuition fee refund procedure will apply.
