Verifications for Graduates

Please find below the different options offered by The University of Manchester for graduates to complete verifications and share official documents with third parties.

Please note that The University of Manchester is unable to share any of your documents with third parties via email on your behalf.

You can share your official academic documents with any third party through Parchment (Digitary CORE), including employers, other academic institutions, and World Education Services (WES).

Once you are logged into Parchment (Digitary CORE), you can share access to your documents using the green 'Share' button next to the document you wish to share. You can share documents in two different ways, and it is your choice which method you use.

If you are sending your documents to an organisation registered with Parchment (Digitary CORE), you can choose 'send my documents to a registered organisation' and enter the correct recipient in the Recipient field. If you are using this option to share documents with WES enter the correct WES Office in the Recipient field. You are then able to input your WES reference number in the Reference field when creating the Share so that WES can easily match your documents with your application.

Alternatively, you can use the option to 'generate a link to my documents' and provide the relevant email address. This will generate an email from Parchment (Digitary CORE) with a secure link to view your documents on Parchment (Digitary CORE). The subject of this email will read: 'A secure document issued by The University of Manchester (UoM) has been shared with you by [your name]'. If you are using this option to share your documents with WES, please provide the following email address: submit@wes.org. Please note that this email address is only for document sharing and not for general enquiries.

If you choose to set a PIN when creating the Share, you will need to communicate this to the third party seperately. Do not assign a PIN or expiry date when sharing your documents with WES because this can block them from accessing your documents.

Academic request forms are not required when sharing your documents with WES via Parchment (Digitary CORE).

While you can download your document from Parchment (Digitary CORE) as a PDF (which would contain cryptographic digital signatures to ensure authenticity), we recommend using the sharing function within Parchment (Digitary CORE) to share your documents instead, as this allows third parties to instantly verify the document's authenticity.

For further information please see Parchment (Digitary CORE)'s Share Recipient FAQs.

Third parties (such as employers and agencies) can use HEDD to verify the information of graduates and current students of The University of Manchester. Please note that this service is only available for third parties and any verification requests must be submitted by the third party on behalf of the student/graduate themselves. You can direct any third parties looking to verify your information to this page for full guidance on the verification process.

The University of Manchester can send physical versions of your official documents to third parties on your behalf. To do this, you will need to purchase a physical document from the University's Online Store and place the third party's address as the delivery address.

In the special requirements section of your order you can ask for any reference codes you may have to be included in the envelope with the documents, for the envelope to be stamped and sealed, or for the documents to be true and verified, according to the demands of the third party.

We recommend selecting courier shipping as the shipping method when sending official documents to third parties so that you can track the parcel and ensure its delivery.

A Confirmation of Award Letter is a less formal alternative to a certificate or transcript which includes much of the same information, such as your course, classification, start and end of registration dates, and date of award.

Any graduate can request a digital version (PDF) of this letter by emailing graduation@manchester.ac.uk and quoting 'Confirmation of Award Letter' in the subject line.
