Bursaries and Scholarships for students who started in September 2016

*Students who are eligible for a bursary have been emailed confirming their award, some of these emails are appearing in junk folders, please check junk and spam folders before getting in contact. If you believe that you are eligible and do not receive an email please get in contact with the funding team and your case will be reviewed.

The Manchester Bursary is available to any UK student who is registered on an eligible* undergraduate degree course here and who has had a full financial assessment carried out by Student Finance. (*Students on NHS-funded programmes will not be able to access these awards due to their eligibility for NHS support. The Undergraduate Access Scholarship is an award of £1,000 per year for students who meet either of the following criteria:

  • You have successfully applied for a place here having completed the Manchester Access Programme (MAP) for local Year 12/13 students.
  • You are under the age of 25 and are currently or have been in public care for a minimum of three months since the age of 11.
  • Students under the age of 25 who have been estranged from their family for at least six months and have been studying without the support of a family network will receive £1,000 a year throughout the duration of their undergraduate course.

These awards are generously supported by our alumni community.

The Study Abroad/Placement Year support package is an alternative support package for a year when you study abroad or do a placement as part of your course. This is instead of The Manchester Bursary and you will be automatically assessed for the award based on your Student Finance financial assessment, so you just need to make sure you apply for a financial assessment for that academic year.
