Student Behaviour

 

With a population the size of a small town, behavioural issues arise from time to time amongst the student body.  The University has a set policy and processes to deal with student misbehaviour, which may include investigations, panel meetings and penalties.  It is important for all students to know what the University expects from them in terms of their behaviour and for students to know what the processes involve and where they can access support.

Here you’ll find some general information on student discipline at the University, including what behavioural issues students may need to be aware of.

The University’s main behaviour policy is called Regulation XVII (17) (Conduct and Discipline of Students).  This sets out the expectations of students and the disciplinary process.  

Cases can come to the University’s attention through a variety of means and cases can be about a variety of issues.  Find out more about how a case is considered by the University in the early stages of its processes.

The University can become aware of serious allegations that a student may be facing, including through external criminal proceedings.  This precautionary measures link, will help you find out more about how the University considers precautionary measures.

The University has multiple levels of discipline, with a panel hearing tending to be based on the seriousness of a case.  This Disciplinary panel link will take you through the levels of discipline and what a student can expect at a panel meeting.
