Whether you are travelling by bus, train or plane, this document provides a range of useful tips on how you can do it for less. It also provides information regarding the University's Travel Awards which may help you to fulfil your travel dreams!

Key Information

  • The University is well-connected by buses, including free travel on the 147 bus between Oxford Road Campus, North Campus and Piccadilly Rail Station only. As of January 5, 2025, Stagecoach has transitioned into the Bee Network, and the annual Megarider is no longer available. There are various money-saving ticket options that can be purchased via the Bee Network app, website, or ticket office. For more details see the Transport for Greater Manchester tickets page.

  • The 16-25 RailCard can reduce standard rail fare by up to a third. You will need to get this form stamped by the University. Once you have filled in your details please send a scan of the form to ssc@manchester.ac.uk for stamping.
  • For students wishing to travel as part of your course or during University vacations, the University offers three travel awards however you only need to make one application in order to be considered for the Zochonis Special Enterprise Fund, the H.E. David Scholarship, or the Pawel Koprowski Award.
