This document outlines how to seek help if you have a debt to the University and provides some useful tips and advice if you owe money to external creditors.
Key Information
The University is not debt licenced and therefore is not permitted to give specialist debt advice. We recommend that you contact a debt advice service for help and click on the yellow box to the right for details of some free and reputable organisations.
There are two types of debt, priority and non-priority. Priority debts must always be paid first as there can be serious consequences if they are not paid.
Advice regarding Payday Loans can be found in our Scams and Risks factsheet.
If your debt is to the University, you should call credit control on 0161 275 8130 or email self.funding@manchester.ac.uk to arrange repayment.
